You couldn’t blame electric-car startup Tesla for turning elsewhere as it plans its first sedan. But despite reports elsewhere, Tesla’s chiefs in charge say no Ford chassis will be used in its upcoming four-door.
“I can confirm that we used some Ford products on the Roadster, but to the notion that we would use an entire chassis, or body of a car, the answer is no,” Dave Vespremi, Tesla spokesperson, told TheCarConnection.
The new sedan project, called Whitestar, is moving to a 2009 production date. A new production facility is in the planning stages in Albuquerque, N.M.
