BMW 6-Series Shatters Stereotypes, Gets Mid-Life Facelift

Facelifts are no big deal, they told us. So we go off to Palm Springs, heal a new look and come back – and BMW’s done the same thing. And dammit, theirs looks better.

The BMW 6-Series is getting a makeover (God, we wish there were a different metaphor—something mythological, maybe) for its mid-life freshening. Spy shots snapped in Munich show the delicate, skilled touch of a surgeon on the 6er’s eyelids, rear end, and nose. The headlights look evened out, too.

Our spies observe some black paint on the lamps, which could mean new lighting technology—and we’re not sure if the 6-Series will add any other features for the 2008 update. It is hard to imagine any more buttons or switches inside the cabin.

We’ll update you when we have coffee with the 6er and we’ll get all the details: how much it cost, who did the work, how many phone numbers it’s getting since.
