GM says four of the main characters in the movie – Bumblebee, Autobot Jazz, Autobot Ratchet, and Ironhide – will spring to life from real General Motors vehicles. Bumblebee, for one, will start out as a classic Chevrolet Camaro (timely, no?) here on Earth so that initially, he doesn’t scare the hell out of everyone on Earth, because everyone’s cool with the Camaro.
Autobot Jazz is a Pontiac Solstice, and can turn himself into a hardtop convertible – something the real Solstice might actually benefit from. Autobot Ratchet takes on the form of the HUMMER H2, virtually guaranteeing enough unsold bodied for him to wreck throughout the movie’s estimated 82 running minutes; and Ironhide becomes a GMC TopKick medium-duty truck, because every once in a while, the commercial business needs a bone tossed its way.
Transformers is a Dreamworks pic, and premieres July 4. Hmmm, what else are we normally doing that day? Don’t wait until then – catch the trailer, stills and other stuff at the Web site, or see the preview on YouTube:
