Score one for the flying public – and for the Delta fliers among us who lived in fear of US Airways taking over the company and leaving us changing planes in Phoenix (shudder!) every time we flew west for an auto press event. USA Today says US Air CEO Doug Parker’s spending a day in jail over a DUI he incurred the day after Delta gave the Heisman to his $9.8 billion offer to throw the bigger airline into the same chaos he brought to America West customers. A second DUI charge and a speeding ticket were thrown out, but the 45-year-old will spend March 15 in jail without Blackberry access, and more importantly, without access to his investment banker squad. What’s this got to do with cars? Because TCC is all about keeping our editors happy, and frankly, this guy was going to totally derail our plan to fly free to Australia again next year.
