NASCAR Hooks Up With Scientology

Is NASCAR being invaded by an even stronger force? The Church of Scientology, no stranger to trading a little paint with Oprah Winfrey and Brooke Shields through the human form of Tom Cruise, is sponsoring a car in one of the racing league’s entry-level series. The Associated Press says that the church will sponsor 35-year-old Kenton Gray’s Number 27 Ford Taurus this Saturday at a California race. The logo sponsor will be Bridge Publications, the publisher of Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard’s Dianetics. The car’s stickerage will reflect the Dianetics logo and cover art, which is actually a really cool illustration of a volcano. As much as we’d love to make a Thetan joke here, we’ve recently been cleared of all negative thoughts and a subsequently large amount of cash and frankly can’t afford it twice.
