To continue Chrysler’s theme of celebrity appearances at the Detroit show, actor David Spade was on-hand to introduce the new Caliber. Best known for his Saturday Night Live pedigree and his current Showbiz Show—and arguably much better-recognized than Chrysler’s two other star cameos, Eva Longoria and Angie Harmon—Spade was born in nearby Birmingham, Mich., according to movie resource imdb.com. While the appearances by Longoria and Harmon at Chrysler’s earlier press conferences had been a bit strained, Spade found comedy on his side and at one point even involved the audience in the Caliber’s price announcement. Although Spade didn’t have much to say about the Caliber, he did make some wisecracks and banter with the executives; at one time, Spade muttered something along the lines of “anything looks better than a Neon.” Wait, was that scripted?
