Since last year's Frankfurt auto show, rumors have put Volkswagen and Chrysler Group together in a deal that will produce a new VW minivan for sale in the U.S., based on Chrysler running gear and built in Chrysler factories here in America. Those rumors are apparently about to be confirmed, according to sources and wire reports coming from the Los Angeles auto show. A deal could be confirmed as early as week's end, with the new VW minivan headed into production after Chrysler retools its own minivans sometime in 2007. Stay tuned - and while details emerge, catch up with TCC's report on the beginning of the Dieter Zetsche era at DaimlerChrysler AG.
