Fighting equally hard for the entire race was thesecond-place Team ADT Champion Racing Audi R8 of Emanuele Pirro, J.J. Lehto,and Stefan Johansson, who appeared to be on their way to achieving a narrowvictory over Team Joest when a few late-race gremlins plagued their otherwisebulletproof entry, leaving them 13.493 seconds behind at the finish. Eighthoverall and first in the GTS class was the Corvette Racing Corvette C-5factory team of Ron Fellows, Franck Freon, and Johnny O'Connell, who survivedan embarassing off-track excursion early in the race.
