2019 Volkswagen Passat vs. Its Competition

Mid-size sedans are no longer boring—well, with the exception of the Passat.

The Mazda 6 delivers sharp handling and lots of style, even if its infotainment software can frustrate.

The Honda Accord has few faults.

We named it our Best Car to Buy 2018, and we still love it.

Subaru’s Legacy won the same award a few years prior and it’s aging gracefully with its standard active safety tech and all-wheel drive.

The Ford Fusion is still the prettiest in the segment, but Ford doesn’t plan to redesign it.

That means that big discounts should be available.

This year’s newcomer is the redesigned Nissan Altima, which promises turbo power and all-wheel-drive grip (albeit not together for some reason).
