2017 Toyota Prius C vs. Its Competition

2017 Toyota Prius C
Aaron Cole Aaron Cole Managing Editor

The Toyota Prius C stands alone among subcompacts—it's the only hybrid.

While that means somewhat better fuel economy, it also means that competitors like the Honda Fit, Hyundai Accent—and even Toyota Yaris—can significantly undercut it in price.

The Prius C fares well against budget subcompacts like the Versa Note and Accent, but we like the Honda Fit's versatility and attitude, even if its overall fuel economy is 37 mpg.

Toyota's own Prius starts at $5,000 more when you compare base models with base models, but narrows a little once you start adding options to both.
