The Hyundai Nexo is one of only two other hydrogen fuel-cell models offered for the U.S.
market.
It’s a crossover and goes 380 miles filled up with hydrogen, and like the Mirai its driving experience is quiet and almost luxurious.
The Honda Clarity Fuel Cell has a 360-mile range and, just like these others, feels more luxurious and refined than other Honda vehicles its size—which falls somewhere between the Civic and Accord.
Both are offered only in California, as the Mirai, and primarily through leasing.
If you want more flexibility but aren’t entirely convinced about plugging in, we’d recommend the Toyota Prius Prime, which has 25 all-electric miles and works as a hybrid for longer-distance driving.
The Tesla Model S is about the size of the Mirai on the outside and offers a different kind of future—a range of up to 405 miles, along with a steering yoke and revamped interface.
The Tesla Model 3 also feels like the future for its minimal interface and standout range and efficiency.
