2015 Scion xB vs. Its Competition

2015 Scion xB

With the departure of the Nissan Cube for 2015, the xB is really the last of the box cars.

Its closest analog is the Kia Soul, a boxy, space-efficient car that sits midway between a traditional hatch and the xB.

The Kia was recently updated and offers a lot more choice and features than the Cube ever has, and it manages to be kind of fun if you hustle it.

The sharp-handling MINI Cooper Clubman rivals the xB in size and accessories, but it costs thousands of dollars more—the extra money nets better power, efficiency, and materials, however.

The quirky Nissan Juke also ranks as an alternative to the xB, although it's markedly less practical and has more of a sporty tack.

And Ford's newest Transit Connect wagon is somewhat boxy, but more of a small van; it was just redesigned for 2015.

Quick Specs
7.2
The 2015 Scion xB still excels at the big car in a small package goal, but a lack of updates have kept it only as good as the slightly flawed follow-up to the original.
8.6
The 2015 Kia Soul is a recognizable five-door boxy wagon that fits into urban environments and carries occupants with comfort and style.
6.8
The 2015 Nissan Juke is part rambunctious rally-racer and part defiantly different crossover—and it adds up to a vehicle that you'll have some strong feelings about, one way or the other.
8.0
The mildly updated 2015 MINI Countryman is a versatile compact crossover, one of the smallest on the market, that maintains MINI's character and fun-to-drive spirit.
7.4
The 2014 Nissan Cube is a boxy fashion statement that puts an emphasis on style, but at the expense of some practicality.
