2021 Porsche Taycan vs. Its Competition

The 2021 Porsche Taycan doesn’t have any direct rivals, but the model that many are eager to compare it to is the Tesla Model S.

The Taycan is much more expensive and more rewarding to drive, although the Model S is better at many of the practical points.

The Jaguar I-Pace is a crossover rather than low and sports-car-like, but it has a distinct personality and is all-electric.

The Porsche 911 is a reasonable alternative to the Taycan, as it serves a similar grand-touring purpose—although the 911 is definitely more of a personal sports car.

The Mercedes-Benz AMG GT 4-Door is one wild-card alternative; there’s no electric powertrain, but it offers the same kind of super-exclusive feel and strong performance.

A little farther off is the BMW 8-Series Gran Coupe, which looks stunning but doesn’t cover any of the dynamic bases any better than the Taycan.
