2014 Nissan Titan vs. Its Competition

The 2014 Nissan Titan is built with only a V-8 powertrain, and it offers relatively few options in a segment that seems to be most popular for its levels of customization and job-specific tailoring.

The Ford F-150 offers a significant amount of feature technology with its four engine options.

The GMC Sierra and Chevrolet Silverado are both completely redesigned for this year with improved looks, technology and fuel efficiency.

The Ram 1500 was redesigned last year, giving it an even nicer interior (it was already leading the segment), as well as a fuel few-saving features like start-stop and an eight-speed automatic transmission; a diesel arrives this year.

The Toyota Tundra is probably the most direct competitor for the Titan, and it's a decent performer, despite its overwrought design.

Quick Specs
The 2014 Nissan Titan performs well, but no longer competes with the rest of the segment in many respects.
The all-new 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 models get a brawny yet upscale new look, strong and efficient new engines, and a roomier, more refined interior with the latest infotainment features.
The 2014 Ford F-150 grabs a share of the full-size pickup truck lead thanks to towing, technology, and toughness.
The 2014 GMC Sierra gets a much stronger footing in its tug-of-war with Ford and Ram, thanks to new powertrains, new infotainment features, and great gas mileage.
A fresh new look and an upgraded interior with new technology make the 2014 Toyota Tundra an intriguing truck, but lackluster powertrains keep it from shining.
The 2014 Ram 1500 brings a new turbodiesel to its class-best fuel economy ratings; it's also tops in cabin finish and infotainment, but lags in towing.
