2018 Nissan Rogue vs. Its Competition

The 2018 Nissan Rogue offers more standard safety tech than nearly any of its rivals, and its ability to drive itself over short distances is a game changer (when properly equipped, at least).

The Mazda CX-5 is similarly tech-heavy, but it’s a little tighter inside—even if it’s a lot more fun.

The Hyundai Santa Fe Sport has a classy feel and swoopy styling and its optional turbo engine is a hoot.

Subaru’s Forester is also available with a zippy turbo and it scores very well for safety.

The Honda CR-V is hugely popular with consumers and its just-right size and relaxing demeanor are major assets.

Finally, don’t discount the new Chevrolet Equinox with its trio of engines that include a very miserly turbodiesel.

Quick Specs
The 2018 Nissan Rogue may not be very exciting, but it checks all the right boxes—and then some—for most family needs.
The 2018 Chevrolet Equinox is a needed step forward for the brand and a solid compact crossover.
The 2018 Honda CR-V may be light on personality, but this compact crossover checks off every other box. It’s a very smart choice.
As long as cargo space isn’t your main reason for buying a compact crossover, the 2018 Mazda CX-5 is an excellent, fun-to-drive choice.
The 2018 Subaru Forester continues to offer top safety scores, remarkable space inside, and all-round versatility; it’s still one of the best small SUVs, and a good value for money.
