The Nissan Rogue Sport is a small crossover in league with other small ‘utes.
So what’s the Rogue doing here? The Nissan Rogue offers more space, better standard advanced safety equipment, and better options for not much more money.
It’s a little unfair to share the same showroom, if you ask us.
The Subaru Crosstrek is a compelling pick in the segment too; it offers standard all-wheel drive, a fuel-efficient (and slow) powertrain, and good space inside.
The Chevy Trax is smaller and lacks the overall flexibility of the Rogue Sport.
The CX-3 is more fuel-efficient with better handling, but we’re not as sold on the interior.
We haven’t yet driven the Ford EcoSport, but will update this space when we do.

Quick Specs | |||||
The 2018 Nissan Rogue Sport is comfortable as a small car with a tall ride height and affordable base models. Don’t venture too far from there. |
The 2018 Chevrolet Trax, Chevy’s smallest utility vehicle, is straightforward: it’s plain on the outside but practical inside, not particularly fast but adequately fuel-efficient. |
The 2018 Ford EcoSport offers up cabin space and a low base price, but other Ford SUVs present a better value. |
The 2018 Mazda CX-3 is an attractive small crossover pick thanks to its good looks. We’d ask for more room, but fear that would spoil the CX-3’s low price. |
The 2018 Nissan Rogue may not be very exciting, but it checks all the right boxes—and then some—for most family needs. |
The 2018 Subaru Crosstrek smooths over the edges that we didn’t like with the last version. It’s smooth, quiet, and capable—all good things because it won’t be rushed. |
