2017 Nissan Juke vs. Its Competition

2017 Nissan Juke
Aaron Cole Aaron Cole Managing Editor

Kia closed the gap to Nissan this year with the addition of a turbo-powered Soul that makes up to 200 horsepower.

In our limited drives with that car we can say that the Kia is just as brisk, but not as fun as the Juke.

Jeep's Renegade offers more off-road prowess than the Juke, but its 2.4-liter inline-4 just isn't as much fun to drive.

Honda's HR-V is the more practical alternative in the segment, and it's an option we'd argue many consider first in the class before driving others.

Subaru's Crosstrek is arguably the most versatile, although its let down by a small, slow engine.

Mazda's CX-3 rivals the Juke in drivability, but lacks some of the exterior style of the Nissan.

Quick Specs
5.0
The 2017 Nissan Juke is best considered as the sportiest pick among subcompact crossovers, but it does come at a price.
6.8
Think of the 2017 Honda HR-V as a Fit with all-wheel drive and a little more headroom. It's not as fun as it could be, but it makes a lot of sense.
5.3
The 2017 Jeep Renegade is the smallest Jeep you can buy, appealing both to commuters and off-roaders, but its design can outshine its performance.
6.5
The 2017 Kia Soul rights one of our longtime gripes with the fun wagon—it now has a more capable turbo-4 that makes it a little less boring to drive
7.2
The 2017 Mazda CX-3 keeps the most attractive features from last year: its price and its handling.
6.2
The 2017 Subaru Outback is an extremely versatile, rugged, compact SUV that's relatively efficient compared to other crossovers.
