2015 Mitsubishi Outlander vs. Its Competition

2015 Mitsubishi Outlander

The Mitsubishi Outlander simply isn't the performer that you'll find the Mazda CX-5 or Ford Escape.

However, those vehicles don't offer the same seating versatility for the whole family that you'll find the Outlander.

To that point, this Mitsubishi is priced to compete with the likes of the RAV4, Santa Fe, and CR-V, but its third row gives it a leg up in the price-per-passenger category here.

We'd also consider the Dodge Journey with its third-row option, as well as its optional Pentastar V-6.

And, there's the Chevrolet Equinox, which feels extra spacious if you're not looking for a third row.

Quick Specs
The 2015 Mitsubishi Outlander isn't nearly as sporty as previous generations of the model, but it's now a decent choice for big families on tighter budgets.
The 2015 Dodge Journey is at once an alternative to minivans and large crossovers, with intelligent packaging and good value.
The 2015 Honda CR-V is neither sporty nor particularly quick, but fuel efficiency is excellent and it prioritizes interior space, earnest practicality, and cleverly chosen features in a way that buyers appear to crave.
The 2015 Nissan Rogue may have a small third row, but it's a better car than the previous generation in virtually every way.
The 2015 Subaru Forester remains one of the best cars you can buy, thanks to exceptional safety, versatility, and all-weather capability.
The 2015 Toyota RAV4 is a practical crossover with confident handling. Just know that driving enjoyment is not its strong point.
