2017 MINI Cooper vs. Its Competition

2017 Mini Cooper
Aaron Cole Aaron Cole Managing Editor

The Mini Cooper doesn't have many direct competitors due to its style and size.

The Volkswagen Beetle may be considered one of them on looks alone, but the new-look Beetle doesn't carry forward the same retro banner it once did.

The Beetle is also two-door only.

The Fiat 500 also reaches for the retro kitsch and is far less expensive, although its performance is far less impressive.

The MX-5 Miata can keep up with the Mini Cooper—and can even go topless—although its very clearly only meant for two.

The Honda Fit and Chevrolet Spark could be considered competitors in strict terms of versatility, not necessarily drivability.
