2015 Mercedes-Benz SLK Class vs. Its Competition

Luxury roadsters can be more than just one-trick ponies–offering versatility with enough space for a weekend trip, comfort for daily commutes, features befitting luxury cars, and thrills to satisfy all but the track-rat crowd.

The BMW Z4 hits these notes at all the same angles as the SLK, oftentimes with better balanced performance.

The Porsche Boxster and its fixed-roof Cayman sibling are brilliant performers with steering and handling suited for cars twice the price, and they're among our top choices in the segment.

Jaguar's new F-Type convertible and coupe is a beautiful sight with plenty of power available, but like the SLK and Z4 it doesn't quite deliver on the sporty promise.

There's also the Q60 Convertible–formerly known as G37–which may seem like a left-field choice, but it's less expensive, equally comfortable, and offers a pinch-use rear seat.
