2018 Mercedes-Benz GLC Class vs. Its Competition

2018 Mercedes-Benz GLC Class (Mercedes-AMG GLC63 Coupe)
Martin Padgett Martin Padgett Editorial Director

There's fierce competition in the compact crossover segment.

Mercedes' traditional rivals, Audi and BMW, both have excellent small crossovers.

The Q5, in particular, has just been redesigned and features an impressive technology suite and a terrific ride-and-handling compromise.

A redesigned BMW X3 arrives later this year with a new shape, new technology, and battery-enabled versions in the offing.

The new Volvo XC60 has a formidable combination of luxury and comfort, as well as a plug-in hybrid model.

Land Rover's Discovery Sport even features a third row of seats—although we wouldn't recommend sitting back there for long.

And don't discount the Lincoln MKC, which is based on the Ford Escape but feels suitably upscale in almost every respect.
