2018 Mercedes-Benz AMG GT vs. Its Competition

It’s hard to say who the 2018 Mercedes-AMG GT wants to topple most: the venerable Porsche 911 or the audacious Audi A8.

The 911 has the AMG GT beat in terms of everyday livability with its better view out, but the Porsche simply doesn’t offer the steering feel or the value of this Mercedes.

Audi’s R8 is closer in terms of its packaging and execution, but it comes across as more of a supercar lite than a sporting car reaching for the stars like the AMG GT—and there’s nothing wrong with either direction.

Look to the Lexus LC if straight-line performance isn’t your goal and you want to be pampered.

Spend more for an Aston Martin DB11 and you’ll be rewarded with bespoke everything.

Or spend less and you’ll wind up with the underrated Chevrolet Corvette that casts a shadow not all that unlike the AMG GT.

Quick Specs
The 2018 Mercedes-AMG GT performs brilliantly on any kind of pavement, making it one of our favorite modern sports cars.
As much a track star as it is a comfortable daily driver, the 2018 Audi R8 is one of the most balanced and flexible supercars ever made.
The 2018 Chevrolet Corvette delivers unmatched performance for the dollar and the features to go with it; the looks are arresting but perhaps too aggressive for some tastes.
Lexus aims in a completely new direction with its 2018 LC 500 Coupe—and it’s an exciting one.
The 2018 Porsche 911 is a superlative sports car that has defied its age. It’s a classic, but performs better than nearly any newcomer to its arena.
Aston Martin has developed the DB11 as a true grand tourer, balancing comfort and handling in a beautiful package that would make a comfortable car for an escape to the cabin many hours away.
