2019 Mazda CX-3 vs. Its Competition

2019 Mazda CX-3
Martin Padgett Martin Padgett Editorial Director

The Mazda CX-3 competes in a crowded field of low-cost small crossovers and keeps pace with all of them.

The Hyundai Kona offers compelling value and space, but its jerky drivetrain is something we’d skip (until the battery-powered Kona EV comes along, that is).

The Honda HR-V might be our pick of the class thanks to its surprising space and interior flexibility, although it’s more expensive.

The Chevrolet Trax is a relatively compelling pick in base configurations with its price that rivals the CX-3.

The Subaru Crosstrek has a higher entry price, but standard all-wheel drive and better handling than the last version.

The Toyota C-HR is the most expressive of the bunch with love-it-or-leave-it looks that we won’t comment on, but note that it’s only front-wheel drive.
