2017 Lincoln Navigator vs. Its Competition

2017 Lincoln Navigator

Full-size SUVs don't get reinvented as often as sports cars, but the Lincoln Navigator's 2015 redo came just in time.

Many of its biggest competitors have been under the dryers in the past 18 months.

The Infiniti QX80 (nee, the QX56) is just a few years old and quite muscular, if not so efficient.

The Lexus LX hangs on to its Land Cruiser hardware, to great effect, but it feels big and clumsy.

The Mercedes GLS-Class has a marvelous turbodiesel edition for fuel economy in the low 20-mpg highway range.

The latest Land Rover Range Rover is the best pick if you need serious off-road ability, and its cabin appointments also feel more special.

The same can be said for the latest Cadillac Escalade, as it delivers every bit as much glitz and glam as the Navigator, and a rippling V-8 to boot.
