2014 Lincoln MKX vs. Its Competition

The Lincoln MKX doesn't quite compete on brand prestige, at least in some circles, but it does offer some of the best in-cabin technology on the market.

Yet other models are finally competing with Ford and Lincoln here.

For instance, Cadillac's touchscreen system uses iPad-like touch and voice controls in the same way as MyLincoln Touch.

Lexus' Remote Touch mouse controller runs functions on most versions of the RX 350; unlike its competitors, the Lexus also comes in hybrid trim, though fuel-economy benefits are debatable.

The Volkswagen Touareg has a simpler interface, but it offers decent off-road ability and a sturdy, luxurious interior.

Also, the Volvo XC60 is quiet and nicely styled inside, as well as near the front of the pack in safety; but its design looks dated (it's due to be replaced) and its gas mileage and infotainment lags.

Quick Specs
The 2014 Lincoln MKX outdoes the Lexus RX in most respects; although MyLincoln Touch is at times a difficult companion.
The 2014 Cadillac SRX is the uniquely American pick among luxury crossovers; and its interior appointments and class-leading technology don't disappoint.
The 2014 Volkswagen Touareg is an expensive way to purchase a mainstream brand's vehicle, but it's more luxurious than many of its mainstream competitors.
The 2014 Volvo XC60 keeps in sync with Volvo's reputation for safe, luxurious wagons–just in a taller crossover package.
