2016 Lexus GS vs. Its Competition

2016 Lexus GS 200t

It's hard not to love BMW's turbo sixes, and the M5 dazzles with its rev-matching manual.

While we prefer its coupe-like A7 cousin, the fine Audi A6 can be equipped with front- or all-wheel drive, a supercharged V-6, S-line sport trim, and a host of tech features.

The recently redesigned Cadillac CTS boasts outstanding style, improved rear-seat room, and excellent interior quality.

The Infiniti Q70 is an obvious alternative to the GS, with great handling, style and V-6 power, but suffers from a coarse engine note—further, in this group, the Infiniti badge may not have enough cachet for some buyers.

Finally, there's a new E-Class emerging for 2017—but the outgoing model still excels in big-car handling and in the sheer breadth of its offerings.
