2011 Lexus CT vs. Its Competition

The 2011 Lexus CT 200h is closely related to the Prius under the hood; but most of the rest is different.

Also, the CT is a completely different car than the HS 250h hybrid sedan, not just a hatchback version.

The CT compares most likely, in dimensions and exterior appearance, to the Mazda3 hatchback; it’s several inches lower than the Toyota Matrix, and has a low seating position, which helps it feel so nimble and sporty.

In comparison, the HS has an odd, higher seating position and a lack of headroom.

In just about every way except straight-on acceleration, the CT feels responsive and perky; that’s because it weighs about 550 pounds less than the HS and only slightly more than the Prius.

The new 2011 Honda CR-Z is another alternative for those who want a hybrid primarily but also want something that looks sporty.

Those who spend more time on the highway will want to consider the Audi A3 TDI (diesel); it gets fuel economy well into the 40s at Interstate speeds while feeling very responsive in city driving.

Quick Specs
The 2011 Lexus CT 200h is an iconic, stylish, and actually quite fun-to-drive car, with Lexus levels of refinement;, and it's a strong value—both as a way of entering the Lexus brand and as an exciting new green icon.
The 2011 Honda CR-Z blazes a new trail for eco-performance—but we’re not quite following.
The 2011 Mazda3 provides more driving enjoyment than most other small-car models, along with a stylish, racy look; but with a tight, noisy cabin, it’s not without compromise.
51 mpg city! The 2011 Toyota Prius remains the highest-mileage hybrid on the market, but that doesn't get in the way of practicality or comfort.
