2017 Land Rover Range Rover Sport vs. Its Competition

Other SUVs may offer great on road manners or stellar off road capability, but none has the combination of both like the Range Rover Sport.

The BMW X5 is polished around town, but its interior can feel a little downmarket and, frankly, it's not as fun as it used to be.

The Mercedes-Benz GLE, meanwhile, offers a wide range of powertrains and has a great interior, but it is definitely not meant for much more than a graded dirt road.

The Porsche Cayenne delivers class-leading road manners, but if you think the Range Rover Sport's price can climb fast—try pricing out a Cayenne.

Should you need to go off road, the Lexus GX 460 is the Sport's closest rival, and while it is surprisingly adept at pavement pounding, the GX never feels nearly as bespoke or upmarket.

The Volvo XC90 has a terrific interior and an eye-catching exterior, but it can't match the Range Rover Sport's available thrust.
