2015 Land Rover LR2 vs. Its Competition

The LR2 looks more rugged than other crossovers in the segment, but it's still a street-oriented machine.

To that end, it's most like the Mercedes-Benz GLK, which is one of the boxier, tougher looking small SUVs on the market, but it's a little less spacious than the LR2.

However, it also comes with more technology and can be had with a fantastic diesel engine, or with rear-drive in the gas model.

The Audi Q5 is beginning to look dated, but it's still a handsome alternative, now with both hybrid and diesel drivetrain options, as well as a new performance-oriented SQ5 variant.

The BMW X3 is more expensive and sportier on the streets, but it also comes with a larger interior.

The Volvo XC60 is among the roomiest options in the pack, and it's one of the most comfortable, too.

There's also the Cadillac SRX with its CUE infotainment, making it a viable option for those looking for a more patriotic purchase.

The Cadillac is a little larger than some of the competitors, which can be good or bad.

Quick Specs
The 2015 LR2 is one of the more traditional options among smaller SUVs, combining some off-road ability with a comfortable interior and classic looks.
The 2015 Audi Q5 remains one of the most elegant, truly car-like crossovers on the market.
Among compact crossovers, the 2015 BMW X3 doesn't try to be rugged; instead it's one of the sportiest and most fuel-efficient in its class, and this year's new sDrive and diesel models add to that while the lineup gets even more tech and active-safety options.
The 2015 Cadillac SRX offers class-leading technology and excellent interior appointments in a uniquely American luxury crossover.
The 2015 Mercedes-Benz GLK offers two great engine options in a baby-SUV shell, but with the comfort and dynamics of a crossover.
The 2015 Volvo XC60 crossover stays stylish--and now it gets much better gas mileage from a new four-cylinder engine.
