2017 Kia Sedona vs. Its Competition

2017 Kia Sedona
Aaron Cole Aaron Cole Managing Editor

We've found the Kia Sedona to operate just underneath the surface of more popular family haulers like the Honda Odyssey and Toyota Sienna.

The Sedona is just as adept at moving kids and gear as the other two, but isn't as versatile or as attractive those can be.

The Sienna offers all-wheel drive, and the Odyssey boasts some great common sense features like a vacuum, but the Sedona holds its own in value.

Admittedly, we're smitten with the new Chrysler Pacifica, something we like very much—even in base trim–but it can be very pricey in top trims.

The Nissan Quest may appeal to some because of its pug-face looks, but the Sedona is more practical in nearly every way.

6.5
The 2017 Kia Sedona is a viable alternative to more popular vans that can cost much more. For less than $30,000 to start, it makes a strong case based on value.
8.3
The 2017 Chrysler Pacifica plays to all the traditional minivan strengths, while it strikes out in exciting new directions in styling and in plug-in hybrid technology.
5.3
The 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan has a fantastically flexible interior, but crash-test scores are a major concern.
4.0
The 2017 Nissan Quest lacks features compared to most and lacks adequate safety results compared to all. Try before you buy.

The 2017 Toyota Sienna is now more powerful, but its real strength is its capability and versatility.
8.0
The 2016 Honda Odyssey stands at the top of the minivan heap, with more design flair and more driving enjoyment than most other three-row rivals.
