2016 Kia Sedona vs. Its Competition

2015 Kia Sedona
Kirk Bell Kirk Bell Senior Editor

With its modern look, quiet interior, smooth ride, and modern infotainment features, the Sedona is a worthy rival to the four best-selling minivans.

The Dodge Grand Caravan and Chrysler Town & Country both offer more easily reconfigurable layouts with commercial-grade space in a package with the best feature content, though the Chryslers have dated bodies that don't crash as well as the Sedona or Honda Odyssey.

The Odyssey, which has top safety ratings in every category, offers better fuel economy than the Sedona, as well as more engaging handling and a handy in-vehicle vacuum cleaner.

For those who won't have a Honda or a Chrysler, the Toyota Sienna is a functional favorite with better-than-average acceleration, handling, features, and fuel economy, and a reputation for long-term durability that tops all other minivans.

We view the Sedona as a clear favorite over the Nissan Quest, which has the smallest interior space and the least flexible seating system of the larger minivans.

Quick Specs
The 2016 Kia Sedona is a viable alternative to the four top-selling minivans, with a quiet and spacious interior, a very comfortable high-end seating option, a smooth ride, and a modern infotainment system.
The 2016 Chrysler Town & Country piles a lavish amount of equipment and luxury touches into an aging body that suffers in the toughest crash tests.
The 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan is an exceptional value among minivans, but some crash-test scores are cause for concern.
The 2016 Honda Odyssey stands at the top of the minivan heap, with more design flair and more driving enjoyment than most other three-row rivals.
The Nissan Quest may have the best road manners of any minivan, but it lags in safety and space, two musts for most minivan buyers.
The 2016 Toyota Sienna posts some of the best gas-mileage and crash-test scores among minivans; only the Chrysler vans are more flexible.
