2014 Kia Sedona vs. Its Competition

2014 Kia Sedona

The Kia Sedona is a sort of outlier in the Kia lineup, because of all the brand's vehicles, this van has never been updated with the modern, Euro-chic look that has drawn new buyers in.

So that puts it at a disadvantage next to nearly every other minivan on the market.

The Honda Odyssey is the most recently updated of these vans; it has top safety ratings in every category, better fuel economy than the Sedona, and more engaging handling, plus a more versatile layout.

But it's more expensive.

The Dodge Grand Caravan and Toyota Sienna both offer more easily reconfigurable layouts, too.

Meanwhile the Nissan Quest has excellent passenger comfort, a smooth powertrain, and almost a luxury-vehicle feel inside.

Mazda's Mazda5 is a true minivan, and it's a unique alternative in the market, offering good fuel economy and an eager, nimble driving feel while still packing in seating for six and a price tag that's lower than that of these other vans.

Quick Specs
The 2014 Kia Sedona is a spacious, comfortable family van, but it lacks the modern design flair and high-value presentation that marks the rest of the brand's lineup.
With the best flexibility and infotainment in the minivan world, the 2014 Dodge Grand Caravan also satisfies families with great safety scores and good gas mileage.
With the 2014 Odyssey, Honda continues to innovate and offer up the most space-efficient interior for families, while driving better than most crossovers and SUVs.
The 2014 Mazda 5 offers the flexibility, space, and versatility of a minivan, but with the personality of a sporty small car, it's a lot more enjoyable for the commute.
The Nissan Quest may drive well, but its below-average seating and safety put it behind the rest of the minivan options on the road today.
The Toyota Sienna only comes up shy in fold-away second-row seats and gas mileage; otherwise it's a leader in power and durability.
