There are tough competitors for the 2016 Kia K900, now in its second year in the large luxury sedan segment.
While Kia would like it to go up against the mid-size German cars—the Audi A6, BMW 5-Series, and Mercedes-Benz E-Class—we don't think those are its real competitors, even if it offers more features for less money.
We think it competes with a second tier of large sedans, among them its sibling the Hyundai Genesis (and the larger Equus as well), which now has a look as extroverted as the K900 is conservative.
The Infiniti Q70 (nee M lineup) is now one of the older models in this group, but its lines remain striking every after several years and it's a well-known entity to boot.
The Cadillac CTS is more of a driver's car, with more extroverted lines and a flashier interior, while the Lexus GS offers a sportier, performance-oriented overlay on the luxury Lexus image.
Finally, the Acura RLX handles surprisingly well, but it's the invisible warrior in this segment, despite its rows of LEDs defining the front end and a high technology quotient under the skin.

The 2016 Kia K900 is a great value in a luxury-sedan context, but not all of its details add up to pure luxury. |
The 2016 Acura RLX offers some minor updates to an already competent—if subtle—luxury package. It's an interesting alternative to the other cars in its class. |
The 2016 Cadillac CTS sedan is a stunning luxury sedan that drives as well or better than its European rivals. |
The 2016 Hyundai Genesis Coupe appeals to a more limited group than it used to; but it straddles the line between budget sports car and refined touring coupe in all the right ways. |
The 2016 Infiniti Q70—especially in its long-wheelbase form—poses an interesting alternative to conservative German luxury sedans. |
