2015 Jeep Compass vs. Its Competition

When it was first introduced, the Jeep Compass was seen as an alternative to larger crossovers, but in the seven years it has been on sale, the little Jeep has been joined by many new compact crossovers.

Among them, the Nissan Juke is perhaps the sportiest, yet the least practical.

The MINI Countryman is also at the sporty side of this group; it offers a lot of interior space, although its ride can be harsh and it doesn’t offer much if any off-road capability.

The Subaru XV Crosstrek is a more carlike vehicle, but it’s surprisingly tough and fuel-efficient; the down side here too is refinement.

The Hyundai Tucson is compact and easy to park like the Compass, but more cohesive and stylish in design.

The Mitsubishi Outlander Sport has a somewhat better-designed interior and a comfortable ride, although it suffers from some of the same refinement issues as the Compass.

Quick Specs
The 2015 Jeep Compass is now as good as it's going to get, a competent small crossover with few surprises.
The 2015 Hyundai Tucson is a stylish choice in the compact crossover segment, with solid but unexciting powertrains and a strong feature set.
The 2015 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport isn't as refined inside as it looks from its exterior, but it maneuvers well and offers a surprising amount of functional space.
The 2015 Nissan Juke is part rambunctious rally-racer and part defiantly different crossover—and it adds up to a vehicle that you'll have some strong feelings about, one way or the other.
The mildly updated 2015 MINI Countryman is a versatile compact crossover, one of the smallest on the market, that maintains MINI's character and fun-to-drive spirit.
