The 2015 Jaguar XF is Jaguar's most competitive mid-sizer yet, putting it within striking distance of the segment's longtime leaders.
The Mercedes-Benz E-Class is now offered in its own vast array of models, including diesel, hybrid, and gas; it's also sold as a wagon, coupe, and cabriolet, as well as in hyper-performing AMG editions.
The BMW 5-Series offers turbocharged V-8 performance and pretty impressive handling, especially in M5 form, though it's grown a little bloated in size and techno features.
The Audi A6 and A7 have especially gorgeous styling, but their on-the-road handling and performance are more muted than the Jag's.
One final alternative is the Infiniti Q70 (formerly the M56); it's less glitzy inside, but has a level of athleticism that rivals that of the XF.
