2017 Jaguar XE vs. Its Competition

2017 Jaguar XE V6 S
Martin Padgett Martin Padgett Editorial Director

The Jaguar XE is trying to elbow its way into one of the most competitive slots in the luxury-car realm.

The titan in the segment is the BMW 3-Series, long held to be the best-handling car in the class.

We'd disagree: we come down in the Cadillac ATS camp, and like its crisp lines better than the Bimmer, too.

The new Mercedes C Class has finally found its own rhythm, and its breakout styling may finally set it apart enough.

The Audi A4 has been revamped this year; the shape's kind of dullsville, but the fuel economy and technology are top-drawer, and adaptive suspension makes it really a mid-size luxury sedan of the first tier.

The Lexus IS was new just two years ago, and though it has some outrageous lines and trick handling hardware, it's still not the fully baked sports sedan we'd hoped it would become.
