2018 Jaguar E-Pace vs. Its Competition

2018 Jaguar E-Pace
Aaron Cole Aaron Cole Managing Editor

The E-Pace will likely compete against the baby Benz crossover and baby Bimmer crossover, but the Jag is bigger than both.

We like the X1 for its solid turbo-4 and modest looks, but it’s not as compelling to drive as the E-Pace.

The GLA isn’t as big inside, and its material quality is questionable in lower trims, but it’s the only one to offer a performance version (for now).

The Audi Q3 is outclassed in every way so far and is due for a replacement soon.

The Lincoln MKC is surprisingly fast when optionally equipped with a 2.3-liter turbo-4 and can be fun to drive, although it can be extraordinarily expensive.

Want to roll the dice on a brand with a sketchy rep that’s not called “Jaguar”? Take a look at the Stelvio.

Quick Specs
6.8
Coming soon to a Pepperdine parking lot near you: the 2018 Jaguar E-Pace.
6.3
The 2018 Audi Q3 offers a fun-to-drive alternative to the entry compact luxury car, but with more utility. Versus its rivals, it delivers more ride comfort and interior refinement, but less fuel efficiency.
6.3
The 2018 BMW X1 is a compelling crossover pick for a budget BMW buyer who can’t do without a roundel.
7.0
The 2018 Lincoln MKC is a luxury compact crossover that’s a relative value compared to others. It’s an SUV with all the amenities, but without the cachet.
5.6
The 2018 Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class blends hatchback with crossover, with better than mixed results.
7.4
Remarkably fun to drive and beautiful too, the 2018 Alfa Romeo Stelvio is great at driving, less facile at crossover-SUVing.
