The Infiniti Q50 attempts to satisfy those looking for a replacement for the well-loved G37 sedan, as well as those interested in a more luxurious vehicle.
The Q50 is gorgeous, which lends it an edge over its German rivals, though it still lacks the prestige of a BMW 3-Series or a Mercedes-Benz C-Class--not to mention a true challenger for the M3 or C63 AMG.
The C-Class is all new for 2015, bringing with it much improved refinement, a gorgeous interior, and mini-S-Class styling.
The Lexus IS made bold progress last year, though on first look, its design represents an attractive update compared to the knockout Q50.
There's also the aging Audi A4; trimmed out as an S4, it's more a contender for the MBAs and partner-track types who grok to these cars.
The Cadillac ATS might be the Q50's closest rival, with a similar blend of design and handling, although it is a bit smaller inside than the Infiniti.

The 2015 Infiniti Q50 continues as a more luxurious successor to the fabled G sedan, although in some forms it loses part of the enthusiast flavor of that model. |
The 2015 Audi A4 and S4 sedans are tech-laden, trim, handsome alternatives to the other expected German cars, as well as one very good American one. |
The 2015 BMW 3-Series lineup is a sport sedan at heart, but with Sports Wagon and Gran Turismo (hatchback) models, it's a lot more than that. |
The 2015 Cadillac ATS hits all the right marks in handling, performance, quality, comfort, and technology. |
The 2015 Lexus IS offers a good blend of comfort, style, technology, and driving dynamics. |
Forget this model's recent past; the 2015 Mercedes-Benz C-Class takes a half-step up in size and a full step ahead of its peer set in sophistication -- and it's now one very charming luxury car. |
