2014 INFINITI Q50 vs. Its Competition

The Infiniti Q50 has some NBA-sized shoes to fill, succeeding the well-loved G37 sedan.

The Q50 is a gorgeous car, which lends it an edge on its German rivals, though it still lacks the prestige of a BMW 3-Series or a Mercedes-Benz C-Class--not to mention a true challenger for the M3 or C63 AMG.

The Lexus IS makes bold progress this year too, though on first look, it's a pretty afterthought compared to the knockout Q50.

Finally, there's the Audi A4; trimmed out as an S4, it's more a contender for the MBAs and partner-track types who grok to these cars.

The Cadillac ATS might remains its closest rival, but we have to reserve judgment on how the two match up until we can get some time on our favorite canyon roads.

Quick Specs
With a hot new look, a Hybrid, some world-first technology, and much-improved cabin refinement--combined with a sharp, eager driving character--the 2014 Infiniti Q50 seeks new sport-sedan believers.
With its perky, composed all-wheel-drive performance, the 2014 Audi Allroad isn't just the family pick of the A4 lineup; it's a better-driving alternative to taller crossovers.
The 2014 BMW 3-Series retains its sporting heritage, but has grown to become a high-tech, spacious, comfortable, and safe range of vehicles.
The 2014 Cadillac ATS puts the Germans on notice in handling and performance, while hitting high marks in quality and comfort, too.
The 2014 Lexus IS is an important car for the brand, and at first impression, the redesign is off to a good start.
For those who have a want a value-oriented car that projects the right image, the 2014 Mercedes-Benz C-Class makes a lot of sense.
