2018 Honda Ridgeline vs. Its Competition

2018 Honda Ridgeline
Kirk Bell Kirk Bell Senior Editor

The Honda Ridgeline is unique in its segment and easier to drive than any rival.

The Chevrolet Colorado and nearly identical GMC Canyon beat the rest of the competition in interior quality, refinement, and ride control, but they can’t match the Ridgeline in those respects.

They are more capable, though, and we like the GMC Canyon better because it is nicer inside and it offers full-time all-wheel drive, though we also like the Chevy's available diesel engine.

The Toyota Tacoma is a step down in interior quality and overall refinement but it continues to be the class’s best seller.

The Nissan Frontier is ancient, but it still has a strong V-6 and good space in its outdated cab.

Quick Specs
The 2018 Honda Ridgeline is the most comfortable truck you can drive today. It has the capability that many casual buyers want, but it’s not the choice for heavy duty users.
The 2018 Chevrolet Colorado can be whatever you need it to be: in-town runabout, suburban slogger, or off-road racing champion.
The 2018 GMC Canyon is a solid, highly recommended choice among mid-size pickups for its terrific powertrains, comfortable interior, and refined demeanor.
The 2018 Nissan Frontier is a good, basic truck, but there are far more modern options for not too much more.
The 2018 Toyota Tacoma is a mid-size pickup with the right-sized attitude: it’s nimble off road, capable, and just enough truck for many buyers.
