Over the past decade, the level of innovation in minivans has definitely slowed, and several more automakers (like Ford) that had previously offered up competitive vans have dropped out in favor of crossovers.
Chrysler's minivans, the Town & Country and the nearly identical Dodge Grand Caravan, are the closest rivals to the Odyssey, as they also have innovative seating arrangements, as well as class-leading entertainment features, and good performance.
Compared to the Odyssey and Toyota Sienna, their interior materials are a little disappointing though.
The Sienna has somewhat better straight-line performance, as well as comparable features and more luxury, at a lower price, but it's a heavier-feeling vehicle that doesn't handle as well--and its seating arrangement simply isn't as handy as the Honda and Chrysler vans.
The Lincoln MKT and Ford Flex aren't minivans, but they're close to it.
With wide-opening, rear-hinged back doors, they also have three rows of seating and well-configured interiors--although they're not set up for cargo as well as the true vans.
The Kia Sedona is back for the 2014 model year, but doesn't change at all from its 2012 edition.
