Unless you’re dead-set on the GMC Sierra’s blocky, traditional styling, the Chevrolet Silverado should also be on your shopping list.

Beneath the skin, they’re the same truck, although the Sierra Denali is more aspirational than even the swankiest Silverado.

Ford’s F-150 is the segment’s sales leader and it belongs on any shopping list, even if it isn’t quite as nimble as the GM twins.

Shop the Ram 1500 not just for its good looks but for its strong engines that include a 3.0-liter turbodiesel V-6 rated at nearly 30 mpg on the highway.

Nissan and Toyota come up a little short in this segment, but the Titan’s optional turbodiesel and the Tundra’s all-around buttery smooth feel mean they shouldn’t be ignored.

Quick Specs
The 2018 GMC Sierra is a rugged, handsome full-size pickup certainly worthy of your attention.
The suave 2018 Chevrolet Silverado does nearly all things well, even if it’s not a huge standout in one way or another.
The 2018 Ford F-150 sports new looks and a wider availability for a 10-speed automatic transmission. A turbodiesel is in the works for this model year, albeit later in 2018.
The 2018 Nissan Titan and Titan XD fill in the gaps left by others with a reasonable price, reasonable performance, and better warranty.
The 2018 Toyota Tundra offers a strong V-8 engine and good advanced safety tech, but it comes up short in terms of fuel efficiency and interior quality.
The swagger-heavy 2018 Ram 1500 is the coolest pickup around, even if competitors have eclipsed it in some ways.
