The mid-size pickup segment has had a heck of a run the last few years, and Honda is back in the fray with its impressive Ridgline.
Although it may not offer the separate frame of its rivals, the Ridgeline offers surprising capability and capacities and a terrific ride quality.
The Toyota Tacoma has long been the segment's sales leader, and its refresh last year brought a strong new engine and a much better interior.
The Nissan Frontier is at the opposite end of the spectrum, having not been refreshed in over a decade—but big discounts should be available.
And it's worth cross-shopping the Chevrolet Colorado, which is largely the same thing as the Canyon but offers different options packaging and a slightly lower price point.
