2019 Ford Ranger vs. Its Competition

The Toyota Tacoma is the 800-pound gorilla of mid-size pickup trucks, and it’s not always easy to see why.

It’s cramped inside and has a bouncy ride.

Until the Ranger came along, the Chevy Colorado and GMC Canyon were our default mid-size pickup truck choices.

The GM twins offer three engine choices to the Ranger’s one and they come standard with better infotainment software, but the Ford is more refined, comfortable, and packs automatic emergency braking.

You won’t find many whizz-bang features on the Nissan Frontier, but this dinosaur among mid-size pickup trucks is still a good value.

Many shoppers won’t mind that the crossover-like Honda Ridgeline isn’t as capable as its body-on-frame competitors.

It’s more comfortable and has a more spacious interior.

The 2019 Honda Ridgeline pickup is all the truck we need, but is it enough truck to be what buyers want?
