2018 Ford F-150 vs. Its Competition

Aaron Cole Aaron Cole Managing Editor

The Ford F-150 is perennially in a dogfight with the GMC Sierra 1500/Chevy Silverado for buyers hearts and wallets.

While fleet buyers may be somewhat brand-agnostic, retail buyers may not be swayed by the F-150’s aluminum construction and turbo powertrains that deliver unreliable mileage gains.

Ram has done well to offer their 1500 in a broad swath of configurations, but a new Ram shouldn’t be far off now.

The Toyota and Nissan trucks are backmarkers in the race, but offer a strong V-8 and reliability record (Toyota) or a turbodiesel quasi-heavy duty truck that may sway buyers (Nissan).

6.7
The 2018 GMC Sierra is a rugged, handsome full-size pickup certainly worthy of your attention.

The 2018 Nissan Titan and Titan XD fill in the gaps left by others with a reasonable price, reasonable performance, and better warranty.
5.5
The 2018 Toyota Tundra offers a strong V-8 engine and good advanced safety tech, but it comes up short in terms of fuel efficiency and interior quality.
6.2
The swagger-heavy 2018 Ram 1500 is the coolest pickup around, even if competitors have eclipsed it in some ways.
