2017 Dodge Viper vs. Its Competition

2017 Dodge Viper

The Viper is brutally efficient as a performance car, but it lacks the refinement and comfort of European cars like the Audi R8 and Maserati GranTurismo.

The R8 has evolved into a more sophisticated machine with somewhat subdued styling, while the GranTurismo continues with ageless styling and a tilt toward grand touring.

The Chevy Corvette Z06 may be the closest current analogue to the Viper, with 650 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque from a supercharged 6.2-liter V-8.

It's the most powerful Corvette to date, and easily the most track-focused.

Unlike the Viper, the Z06 is available with an automatic transmission and either a removable roof panel or a convertible top.

It's a stunning sports car that's a magnitude better than the Stingray, and probably America's best sports car offering.

There's also the Jaguar F-Type, a stunning car to see and hear, and a beautifully capable performer in R guise.
