There is no other mid-size SUV that delivers the styling impact of the 2008 Dodge Nitro.

However, there are better-driving mid-size SUVs out there.

While the base Pontiac Torrent isn't one of our favorite vehicles, with the GXP package and the 3.6-liter V-6, the Pontiac is far nicer on road than the Dodge.

Quick Specs
If you judge the 2008 Dodge Nitro's performance based on its looks, you'll be disappointed when you hit the road.
The 2008 Acura RDX gets its edge from turbo power and crisp handling, but it can feel a little nervous and cramped.
The 2008 Toyota Highlander Hybrid offers the same room and amenities that the nonhybrid Highlander does, only with better fuel economy and the badge of honor that comes with driving something that's trying to be green.
The 2008 Toyota RAV4 brings a little more space than most compact SUVs without a mid-size price.
