2014 Dodge Dart vs. Its Competition

2014 Dodge Dart SXT Blacktop

The 2014 Dodge Dart is an attractive, sometimes entertaining car, especially in its sportiest trims, and it's likely to score well with shoppers who need something economical, but crave style and technology above all else.

The Toyota Corolla has been redesigned for 2014, and it's considerably more attractive than past models–and even includes standard LED headlights.

The Honda Civic gets decent fuel economy and comes with much-improved interior after last year's update.

The Hyundai Elantra earns high marks for value, style, and overall popularity–dealers can't seem to keep them on their lots.

The Ford Focus feels upscale by comparison to the others, and it drives and handles wells, too.

That all comes at a cost, though, since the Focus can touch $30,000 with its most-equipped models.

Finally, the Chevrolet Cruze is a handsome, solid performer offered with efficient turbocharged four-cylinder gas or diesel engines and one of the quietest rides in the segment.

Quick Specs
Remember the Neon? The 2014 Dodge Dart brings back some of its personality, but in a decidedly better package.
The 2014 Chevy Cruze is comfortable and practical--and now it offers a diesel engine that can return 40 mpg in real-world use.
Even without considering the top-performance ST, the 2014 Ford Focus is one of the best-driving small cars on the market--with the impression of being an accessible premium car, not a spruced-up econobox.
The 2014 Honda Civic brings better refinement back to the lineup, but there's more to come, we're told.
The Hyundai Elantra already had the bases covered--we'll see if a new engine and new tuning draws it even closer to best in class.
The 2014 Toyota Corolla keeps its frugal, responsible core but adds a lot more verve.
