2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 vs. Its Competition

2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Pickup buyers are a fiercely loyal bunch, but if you’re one of the few still on the fence, you’ll find plenty of worthwhile competition.

Head steer, at least in the looks department, is the Ram 1500—but it’s dated and its safety scores don’t impress.

The trail boss here is the Ford F-150, a popular truck with a controversial aluminum bed and loads of trim levels.

Attempting to break into the dude ranch are the Nissan Titan and Toyota Tundra.

Neither can match the domestics’ wide range of options and trim levels, but both have a certain refinement worth considering.

But if you’re set on the Silverado, you at least owe it to yourself to pop over to the GMC dealer to check out the nearly identical Sierra.

Quick Specs
6.7
The suave 2018 Chevrolet Silverado does nearly all things well, even if it’s not a huge standout in one way or another.
7.2
The 2018 Ford F-150 sports new looks and a wider availability for a 10-speed automatic transmission. A turbodiesel is in the works for this model year, albeit later in 2018.
6.7
The 2018 GMC Sierra is a rugged, handsome full-size pickup certainly worthy of your attention.
5.5
The 2018 Nissan Titan and Titan XD fill in the gaps left by others with a reasonable price, reasonable performance, and better warranty.
5.5
The 2018 Toyota Tundra offers a strong V-8 engine and good advanced safety tech, but it comes up short in terms of fuel efficiency and interior quality.
6.2
The swagger-heavy 2018 Ram 1500 is the coolest pickup around, even if competitors have eclipsed it in some ways.
