2017 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 vs. Its Competition

2017 Chevrolet Silverado

The only rivalry stronger and older than Chevy vs.

Ford would be the Hatfields vs.

McCoys.

They both have their loyalists and critics, good points and MyFord Touch points.

In the end, what we can say when it comes to comparing the Silverado 1500 and Ford F-150 is that neither truck does much to sway the other camp.

Ford's aluminum body F-150 could tempt some to defect from Chevy, or vice versa, but it's still too early to tell.

In third, the Ram 1500 has an available diesel powertrain that we like very much, but its interior is a few years behind.

Toyota and Nissan are around to tempt buyers with their name and warranties, respectively, but are distant competitors for now.

The GMC Sierra 1500 is nearly mechanically identical to the Silverado 1500, so they're usually not rivals for the same buyer.

Quick Specs
6.3
The 2017 Chevrolet Silverado is a straightforward, good-looking pickup that'll work in nearly every circumstance, with any outfit. It's the buzz cut of full-size trucks.
7.0
The 2017 Ford F-150 is a solid nudge forward with a new transmission and top-trim engine this year, also nudging forward: its overall price.
7.0
Ruggedly handsome, the 2017 GMC Sierra gains some nice safety tech for 2017 and remains one of the most desirable big pickups.
5.7
With pleasant road manners and plenty of power, the light-duty 2017 Nissan Titan can compete head-to-head with the big guys now, while the Titan XD is for those who need to tow but don't want a full-on heavy duty truck.
5.2
The Toyota Tundra delivers authentic truck talent, but it feels like a weak effort against its rivals.
6.0
The 2017 Ram 1500 can hold its own among the Detroit Three thanks to a good powertrain lineup and smart lineup additions.
